The renovated interior of JW Marriott Auckland will offer a respite from the hectic energy of the city’s CBD.
Travelers and Oceanians heading to Auckland, New Zealand will be able to enjoy the renovated JW Marriott Auckland in mid-2024. Announced today (June 7), the hotelier will begin the first phase of its $25 million redevelopment project. New Zealand dollars, which includes new design concepts for the rooms.
Designed by Singapore-based global interior design studio O37, the rooms will feature a sophisticated modern aesthetic that effortlessly blends existing hotel features with JW Marriott’s signature ethos of luxury, guided by the principle of mindfulness. .
The soon-to-be-renovated hotel is the first JW Marriott property in New Zealand, located in Auckland’s central business district. Its spacious rooms are known to feature natural light and encourage guests to rejuvenate mind, body and spirit with the five-star property’s full suite of wellness services along with Auckland’s nature-focused attractions.
Behind the design inspiration for JW Marriott Auckland
The design concept, inspired by the fusion of old and new, revolves around the idea of ”beautiful collisions”, where the weaving of opposing elements results in a harmonious and calm living space. Each room’s balance of raw and refined, rough and smooth textures, inspired by New Zealand’s nature, coexist harmoniously, offering guests a visually striking and revitalizing stay.
Leonard Lee, Founder and Creative Director of O37 said: “The idea came when I visited the hotel and what came to mind was the story of a wandering poet who found her true love and a new start in Auckland. Like her, our goal with the hotel was to capture the essence of this city’s nature, culture, art, and music and infuse it into every aspect of the property, capturing both old and new with the concept of “beautiful collisions”.
Currently, the luxurious five-star hotel has 286 rooms in total. All of them will be outfitted with signature JW beds and Chromecast-enabled smart TVs, and 40 will be revamped with the new design in September with reservations opening thereafter.
After this, the hotel will continue its journey of transformation by renovating each floor at a time. The completion date for all rooms is set for mid-2024, along with a complete renovation of the all-day restaurant, meeting rooms, and lobby area, which have already undergone an initial renovation.
Other amenities offered by the hotel include a large gym, spa, sauna and heated indoor pool on the top floor, showcasing the stunning views of the CBD and Auckland Harbor Bridge.
